HAVE A HELL OF A TIME AT PURGATORY SKI RESORT.

PROJECT SCOPE: UX | UI | Design Research| Brand Identity | EGD | Copywriting
PROJECT DURATION: 3 Months | Spring 2023
TOOLS USED: Illustrator, Indesign, Procreate, Figma/Figjam
COMPLETED AS A SOLO PROJECT

PROJECT OBJECTIVE: Design a solution that makes planning group trips more optimal and streamlined.

GOAL: Create a planning system that allows users to book their entire itinerary with necessary equipment rentals, passes, and room in one seamless transaction.

OUTCOME: I created an app that would make the act of group planning a hell of a lot easier. Along with this, I revamped the ski pass system and designed it to act as an all-in-one pass that keeps everything you need for your trip all in one place such as tickets, access to your room, and a payment system so you don’t have to pull your card out.

WHAT I LEARNED

This project and Gaydar were my first two projects where I tackled UI/UX on my own. It was really neat to learn the process of balancing two different projects at once, and figuring out the best methods of research and brainstorming for both of them. I also really wanted to explore more product design which I got to push with Purgatory with the “Purgy Pass” and that was an awesome learning experience as I balanced out conceptual ideas with logistic constraints. Curating an experience set on ideal trip planning was also a really fun problem to explore as a lot of how might we’s got generated from my own ski trips with friends. Getting around 15+ college kids from different schools and breaks all onto one trip is no joke!

WITH MORE TIME…

I began to lightly experiment with augmented reality here with the trail wayfinding using the phone’s camera through the Purgatory app, but I would’ve really loved to push this further and see what other experiences for Purgatory could benefit from augmented reality. Mimicking the trail experience, but for something like snowshoeing, would’ve been really fun to do! I also would love to design out the website flow and see how that would differ from the app version.
